Ginger Bread Snow Day Documentary (with hilarious video ending!)

Today we were snowed in! After my dad dropped West home from school (the mini-van doesn't do snow) I figured this would be the perfect day to fulfill my promise of a gingerbread man to the chillins.
West has been learning about the story at school and brought home a book/audio story.

{listening to the audio story while baking}

Things got a little dicey during the baking process, especially when it came to peeking at the not-quite-finished product. But in the end, the oven prevailed and produced a blessedly lifeless, but still adorable ginger-fellow.

After a day filled with eager anticipation we decided to partake of the cookie-man and some natural soda during a family movie night.

{... they may not have understood the concept of an edible ginger-friend}

2 minutes after that...

As you can see, eventually our children came to terms with the circle of life.
The night ended well and full of ginger-cookie goodness:)

{anyone think we should try for another AFV clip?}
{just kidding!}

Stay safe out there this weekend!!!

Boys will be boys...

We have sweet little Milah Moore playing over here today. After I got her settled into Briella's room, I found Westly taking care of my morning chores!

After checking on him I returned inside to play with and photograph this bunch of adorableness :)

About 5 minutes later I returned outside to find that my big helper had been replaced by the Swamp Thing.....the West man got a little distracted- I found him sitting in that puddle you see on the left :)

Counter-top Redo Reveal!!!

The past month we've been prepping/ painting our countertops, and I'm finally ready to reveal!

{Before}

{Tearing off the backsplash}

 {The lovely surprise our backsplash was hiding!}

{Caulking}

{Repairing the hole}

{After patching, caulking, priming, and painting. The kitchen stayed like this for about 2 weeks}

{Hole repaired!}

{Counter primed- no going back!}

{First few layers}

{Painting complete!}

{Pre-Epoxy}

{Post-Epoxy}

{Finished!}

{My handy hubby hung a window his grandma gave us- love it!!!}

And there it is!
The project was fairly easy and inexpensive, and I am loving the results :) I spend a lot of time in the kitchen catering to my son's allergies, so making it into a room I love to be in makes a huge difference in my day-to-day.
Obviously, this isn't a tutorial, but if anyone has any questions about the techniques we used feel free to ask!
